This term saw twenty two members of Form VI taking part in Dollar Academy’s first surfing expedition. The intrepid groups travelled to Belhaven beach in East Lothianwhere, despite the distinct lack of palm trees and sunshine, they hurled themselves enthusiastically into the chilly North Sea. Both trips were a great success with over half the participants standing up and riding a wave towards the beach by the end of the day. After many spectacular ‘wipe-outs’, a few ‘gnarly’ rides and some ‘rad’ turns the groups returned to remove the sand from their ears and a well deserved bar-be-que. Our thanks go to Sam, at Coast to Coast Surf School, for his expert coaching and providing very warm wetsuits!
