Scottish Country Dancing in Dundee

On 24th March, nine Scottish Country dancers, accompanied by Miss Goudie, Miss Horne and Mrs. Hudson, took part in the 32nd Dundee Festival of Dancing, organised by the Dundee Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. At the start of the afternoon, every participant entered the large hall to the sound of the bagpipes before everyone joined together for the first dance. Thereafter, adults and children danced different dances, each having been practised for several months to ensure accuracy of movement and step. Well-rehearsed demonstration dances were interspersed throughout the afternoon and offered newcomers and experienced dancers alike fine examples of a high standard of country dancing. After the final dance, the ever-popular ‘Flying Scotsman’, the Junior School team returned home, keen to repeat this experience in 2008.
