‘Scheherazade’

‘Scheherazade’ was a most magical and colourful performance presented by the pupils of Junior 2. The stunning Arabian costumes left the audience speechless.

Mrs Nelson and Miss Horne had worked very hard on this brilliant musical and we know that all the parents and friends were astonished by the standard and quality of the show. As one of the J2 pupils I really enjoyed putting it together with my year-group and teachers. Although the making of the costumes was stressful, it was worth all the hassle when we were actually performing on the lit stage. The scenery, too, was an array of colour from the Arabian nights, with domes, pillars and palm trees painted by the participants.

Scheherazade, a brave and clever girl, was attempting to rid Arabia of the evil Sultan’s cruelty. Though Scheherazade’s father disagreed with her plan, he finally allowed her to become the Sultan’s next bride. Could Scheherazade stop the sultan decapitating all innocent girls in the future and put an end to all the tears…..? Each of the three audiences reacted differently to the cast and the show’s plot and each enjoyed the highs and lows of the performances! This was a Musical which the cast will remember for many years.

The thirteenth … unlucky for some but definitely not for all ninety-six of the Junior Two performers in this year’s musical. The opening night of Scheherazade (June 13th 2007) went off without a single hitch.  The dazzlingly colourful costumes and the glittering jewellery set a perfect scene for an equally dazzling musical.  The clarity of speech and tuneful singing from all the talented actors and actresses made it very easy to comprehend the storyline, which tells of Scheherazade and the thousand and one tales of the Arabian Nights.

A tear-jerking and comical tale that warmed the hearts of all ages, Scheherazade was a ‘must see’ musical.
