Junior
School Burns Competition
The Dollar Academy Junior School Burns Competition was held on the after noon of Tuesday 6 February 2007 almost 220 years after Burns visited the Harvieston Estate between Dollar and Tillicoultry in the year 1787.
As usual, there were a very number of competitors. Alix Brewster (Junior 2) was the winner for the second year in a row with a strong delivery of the “Address to t he Toothache”. Runners-up were Euan Johnstone, Jennifer Duncan, Jack Ballantine, Fiona Keith, Beth Hamilton, Scott Gillan and Alana Johnson.
Mr George Waddell, President of the Dollar Burns Club, presented the competition quaich to the talented Alix. Other judges were Head of Support for Learning, Mrs Hazel Archibald, and Vice-President of the Dollar Burns Club, Mr Graham Pearson.
Junior School teacher Mr Ted Davies, as always, was the organiser of this very popular event.
