Christmas 2006
Advent is always an exciting mix of enjoyment and anticipation in the Junior School and this year was no exception. At the beginning of December, the Christmas tree arrived and a group of children was selected to add its decorations before it stood proudly in the foyer for the last two weeks of term. Within classrooms, art and craft lessons included the making of Christmas mobiles or the creating of appropriate wall displays. Some 67 Juniors joined with members of both the Prep and Senior Schools to take part in the annual Carol Concert, which took place in the magnificent setting of Perth Concert Hall for the first time. The final week of term began with the Christmas Dance, with Mr. James Pillinger of the PE Dept. acting as MC for the first time. Dancing, games and a visit from Frosty the Snowman ensured that this event was greatly enjoyed by everyone. There then followed the Prep and Junior Carol Service in the Parish Church. Led by the children of J2G, this year’s theme was ‘Light in the Darkness’. The final festive gathering took place in the Burnside Hall on the last morning of term, when everyone wore a Christmas hat, well-known carols were sung and each class took it in turns to lead the rest of the Junior School in the singing of a favourite Christmas song. A busy but enjoyable and productive term came to an end and everyone dispersed to continue Christmas celebrations with families and friends.
