Congratulations to Mrs Karol Fitzpatrick and Mrs Marie Leggatt, the new order in the Music Department (following the move south of Mr Martin Hoile), on the excellent Spring Concert given by the 2nd Orchestra, the Form I and II Choir and DAJO 2. On the evening of Wednesday 14 March a full and varied programme was presented to an appreciative audience. Director of Music Mr John McGonigle was particularly impressed by the high standard of the chamber and solo items. Form I boys were especially strong in their performances. Treble vocalists Campbell Keith and Conor McPherson produced some heart-melting moments with their versions of “Close Every Door for Me” and “Cockles and Mussels”, while Lewis Macdonald’s “Jackson Blues” piano solo was performed with all the showmanship that characterises this talented young performer. The final piece of the evening, “Feel Good”, reflected no doubt the sense of pride of the musicians after many weeks of rehearsal and, as Mr McGonigle declared, summed up the mood created that evening in the Gibson Building auditorium.
