World Book Day

Prep 1 started the day by doing their assembly in the Auditorium, all about books and reading.  Later the children in Prep 1 and 2 celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite book characters.  The teachers entered the spirit too, disguising themselves as some of Roger Hargreaves’ “Little Misses”!  Mrs McLean from the Art Department came along to judge the costumes.  The four worthy winners were – Daniel Robins as Bottomley Potts from the Hairy MaClary books, Sam Bracken as an elf from The Elves and the Shoemaker, Suzanne Green as Nanook the husky from Animal Ark, and Anthony Quinn as Willy Wonka.  The children paraded through the Prep School, to the delight of the other pupils and teachers.  Towards the end of the afternoon, Mr Daniel, Mrs Ferguson and Mrs Robertson read to the children, having chosen books which they had enjoyed with their families.  The children had a great day, and many thanks are due to our special guests, Mrs McLean and of course the parents who helped put the costumes together.  Get your thinking caps on for next year!
