CAREERS

A professional visiting Careers Adviser provides a comprehensive careers guidance, information and advice service to pupils at Dollar Academy. This service is impartial, confidential and free to all pupils attending the school.

The Careers Adviser attends Dollar Academy on a regular basis throughout the academic year and provides the following services:

  • one to one vocational guidance interviews with pupils in Form IV to Form VI.
  • attendance at Parents Evenings to give parents and guardians the opportunity to discuss their son or daughter's future plans.
  • participation in Careers Education where appropriate.

Pupils from Form IV to VI can access an individual interview by completing an interview request form available from the school office. Interviews are held throughout the year on request, with an individual Career Plan of Action being produced as a summary of the discussion where appropriate.

The Careers Adviser can also signpost pupils to relevant websites and information sources to aid them in researching careers and courses.

The service provided by the Careers Adviser complements the advice and guidance offered by members of the school staff, thus ensuring that the careers guidance needs of pupils at Dollar Academy are adequately met.

The Careers Adviser can be contacted through Dollar Academy (Tel 01259 742511)
