The 1st XV’s Easter tour to Brescia, Italy was an outstanding success. “Weather, scenery and venues were all fabulous,” said coach and tour leader John Foster, and the hotel was just 150 metres from the beautiful Lake Garda.
The rugby clubs could not have been better hosts. Opponents were dauntingly heavy, but limited in their effectiveness when the ball was moved to space.
The tour company rep described the team as the best school side he had seen on and off the pitch.
The team’s view was that “it was good to get Scottish rugby back on the up” against the European opponents.
