January 1999 to 23 September 2006

Dollar’s long unbeaten home record for the 1st XV came to an end on Saturday when 1st XV were beaten 26 – 14 in an excellent match with Merchiston Castle School – who had been the last winners in 1999 also.

One newspaper article suggested that this seven year and eight month record of being unbeaten at home is perhaps the longest ever in the history of Scottish schools. Whatever else, it has reflected powerfully on the coaching of John Foster and the commitment of teams throughout many seasons.

The 1st XV, while disappointed, are aware that all records are there to be broken, and they hope now to begin to lay the foundations for their successors who will doubtless aim to build a new record in the future.
