Dollar Wins Caledonia Independent Schools Tens Tournament

  • This new event, held at Dollar in its inaugural year, has been designed to replace the former Independent Schools District Championships.
  • A Tens Rugby team comprises five forwards and five backs.  Each half of a match lasts ten minutes.
  • John Foster, Dollar’s Director of Sport, returned from last March’s Sedbergh Tens tournament with a very positive impression that Tens was an excellent format for school players.
  • Dollar’s October tournament provided an excellent level of competition between the participating Caledonia schools.
  • All of the ties were hard-fought, partly because the changing weather conditions introduced elements of unpredictability.
  • Those present couldn’t have asked for a better, more competitive final to the first staging of the event.
  • Caledonia selectors were present, ahead of a January fixture where a Independent Schools XV will play a Caledonia team of club and state school players.
