Corinna Whitaker (Form V), Scottish Under-18 Table Tennis Champion, is set to jet off to Portugal this December to compete in the 14th Portuguese Open, one of many tournaments Corinna has participated in previously. Hopefully she will add this to her already impressive list of achievements as winner of the Scottish Schools Table Tennis Championship at both under-15 and under-16 levels, and runner-up in the Junior British Six Nations Under-18s.
Corinna’s most recent achievement was winning gold in Belgium this summer. She feels that travel is one of the best parts of the game, having competed in places such as Prague, Bosnia and Yugoslavia. Although she has competed in many prestigious competitions, this Perth girl regards her greatest conquest to be victory over England this February at the Junior British Six Nations, and again this August when she beat the number one under-21 England player in the Liverpool Grand Prix. Despite having taken part in four European championships, Corinna says she still feels a slight twinge in her nerves just before each big game. We wish her the best of luck for December.
