Massive Participation in the Cross Country Races:
Over £1400 Raised for Hospital Wards

This spring’s cross country races took place on Tuesday 6th March in fine crisp conditions but with going underfoot somewhat soft. A very large number of runners took part, supporting Mrs Elan Borrowman’s courageous run in supp ort of her colleague and friend Mrs Sandra Morgan who is currently in hospital.
Mrs Borrowman ran the Senior Girls course which she describes as “a very uphill one”. She was sustained in the demanding task which she had set herself (and her replacement hip) by the thought of raising so much money for the High Dependency Unit at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh and the Windsor Unit of Falkirk Royal Infirmary, both of which have played such a vital part in the long recovery of the Junior School Support for Learning teacher after her serious illness. So far over £1800 has been raised. Mrs Borrowman has told the website that she has been training hard on “hidden routes” around Dollar.
The afternoon was distinguished by an outstanding run by Michael Gillespie (Form VI) who completed the Senior Boys course in 19 minutes and 45 seconds, taking an amazing 20 seconds off the existing record. The Senior Girls winner was Ailsa Clark of Argyll House.
Other winners were:
Intermediate Boys: Elliot Humble
Intermediate Girls: Stephanie Hanley
Junior Boys: Andrew Tait
Junior Girls: Fionn Hargreaves
Junior 2 Girls: Robyn McAree
Junior 1 Girls: Kathryn Gillespie
Quint result: Devon
Any reader who would like to contribute to Mrs Borrowman’s charity run should send a cheque (payable to Dollar Academy) to her at the school.
